When Martin Luther King spoke with passion in front of all those people about his dream he created some of the most iconic words in history and to this day many people can still quote them, ‘I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up...’ (wow this is deep stuff for us isn’t it!) Fear not - we haven’t lost our sense of humour this is going somewhere totally pants!
We were just musing that when he made that speech we imagine he was not about to end with ‘the nation will rise up the waistband on its trousers’ which is exactly what his son, Martin Luther King Jr has just suggested in his less iconic but never the less important speech as a keynote speaker. Being keen on the designer mens underwear scene as we are, any news item about pants of any kind cannot slip past us unnoticed so this was no exception. Of course regular readers will know that this is certainly not a new debate, it has rumbled on for most of the summer in fact, but clearly MLK junior felt the need to pop in his opinion. He has actually taken a slightly new angle and suggests that in order for the next generation to contain the professionals he feels we need to run a successful world then this sort of sloppy dress code needs to be addressed. He was actually focusing his attack on the university level of young persons, suggesting that if you have the intelligence to make the grade and head onto the degree trail, surely pulling up your trousers to cover the waistband of your boxer shorts should be within easy reach.
Now as we have said it before we are a little torn on this one, we don’t find designer mens underwear in anyway offensive, under or over the waistband, but probably have to agree a full viewing of your derriere in Calvin Klein underwear should be saved for a private viewing not the public at large! |
